Alkmini (Αλκμήνη)

Alkmini was the wife of Amphitrion and the mother of Iraklis (Hercules). Her name derives from the Greek words “alki” and “meni”, which means “much” and “moon”

Ως μητέρα του Ηρακλή, η Αλκμήνη θεωρείται η πρόγονος των Ηρακλειδών και ως τέτοια λατρευόταν στη Θήβα και στην Αθήνα.
